Mothers of Humanity: Building Tomorrow’s World

WOMEN & MOTHERS

Ramakrishna never said no woman, no gold for the entire world. He taught his very close ones so that they could concentrate all their energies towards bringing spiritual knowledge to the world. Today, after more than eighty-five years, that movement is established worldwide. Whenever someone asks me, “What literature should I start with?” I always recommend reading “The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna” and the works of Swami Vivekananda, for they are great truths given.

When I look around me, I see the outward shapes. This is a woman because she is built in a certain way, and this is a man because he is built in a certain way. I see the differences in the surface value. There is man. That is a woman- but when I look at you, I see one Spirit, for the Spirit within all is the same. It knows of no gender – it is one Spirit.

Differentiations are made, but women play just as great a role as men, perhaps even more significant. I feel that women are more important in this world than men.

I WILL GIVE YOU MY REASONS FOR IT

Every woman is a mother of the world. When she gives birth, the woman is the moulder of the child, be it a girl or a boy. The father is out at work. The woman is the moulder, and she is the one who moulds the child in its very formative years. What is implanted in those formative years will determine the child’s character when it grows up. It will determine its whole emotional being and every facet of its life.

Women naturally have a greater spiritual inclination than men because, built-in within them, they have a far higher tolerance than men. They have far more incredible patience than the man. They are far kinder than the man – and all these qualities are built into a woman because she is to be a mother.

She could never raise a child without tolerance, patience, and caring ability. Sometimes, the mother is fast asleep, and the baby whimpers, and the mother wakes up. And yet, at other times, a bomb can explode, and she is fast asleep.

Caring is not only on the conscious level but subconsciously; the woman is built that way. God has made her to be a mother and given her these qualities. So, when the mother trains her child and moulds the child into a good person and a good citizen—not only of this country but of the world—she has performed a significant duty in life. So, women have to be more vigilant than men.
