WHAT DO WE DO WITH PATTERNING’
Only a realisation is required to assimilate this understanding, and with the help of your meditations, you could change the entire course of your life within six months. This does not mean that it will fall into your lap if you indulge in wishful thinking and wish for a million dollars. But you will have a different attitude towards those million dollars. Do I need it, or do I not? Do I need it, or do I want it? There is a significant difference. You will not get what you want; you will get what you need. And that, again, is because of the conditioning that you have brought upon yourself, the pattern.
So, what do we do with patterning? We unpattern it. What do we do with conditioning? We uncondition it. Then the question of control falls away because with what will you control? Using the conscious thinking level of the mind will only create inhibitions and repression within yourself.
Everything has to express itself. It is the nature of everything to express itself. Forget the idea of control, but think instead of the idea of clarification to take away the opaqueness and bring transparency through which the divine light can flow so that your life will change.
CHANGE ANY CIRCUMSTANCE WITHIN SIX MONTHS
Any person who does the spiritual practice prescribed for him with sincerity and regularity can, in six months, change any circumstance in which he is placed. A person is the master of his destiny, but not from the thinking level. The human being is the master of his destiny. If he uses the thinking level of his mind to draw upon that which is higher than himself, then life must change. If you put sugar in your tea, it will naturally become sweet; so what sugar is in your life? It is that Divinity within you that could so easily be drawn upon. This is easy because this is your true nature.
The ego self falsifies your nature, covering it with veils of ignorance so that your true Self is forgotten, and you say, “I am a creature of circumstances.” Believe no such thing. You are a divine creature who is beyond all circumstances, for every person can rise above the conflicts of the ego-self. He can rise above the little conscious mind’s conflicts and view them so that he is not affected. One of my favourite sayings is, “Two men behind prison bars; one saw mud, and the other saw stars.”
So, what happens to a person’s mind when he draws upon his divine Self? That mind – those conscious and subconscious levels which have been troubling you up to now – will assume the quality of the superconscious level, which is the level closest to the Absolute energies. It is like having a clear crystal; if you put a yellow flower behind it, it will appear yellow; if you put a red flower behind it, it will appear red, while really, it is a colourless crystal. This mind is like that crystal. Once we remove all those ego-self colourings, we realise there are no colours at all. There is only one colour – white – but because it is refracted through the prism, you find all those blues, greens, and yellows and what have you.
